Track in info! Jan 23, 2012

Yes, 5 weeks are over and done with and another great track out is behind us.  The parent side of me is cheering inside :)
We are going to have a busy quarter, as usual with our usual curriculum as well as extra events.  A few of these are listed below
Feb. 3, 17, 24 Interact Presentations- bullying intervention, anger management
Feb. 14- holiday celebration (no parents needed- will send request for goodies/ valentines later)
Feb. 24- Shakespeare Field Trip
Mar. 1/2 Enterprise Day/ Auction (Parent helping is a necessity for this to be successful!)
Mar. 8/9 I am out for a two day training (best behavior expected!)
NEEDED…. CLASS CHARACTER ED READERS- Feb 3!
Lots more to come on all of these events, curricular updates and field trips but just wanted to give a quick heads up and welcome back.  We will be doing a few crafts next week and into February so I’d like to send those needs out now as well.
CRAFT NEEDS:
All students need a LONG white tube sock (can be used, buy no holes :) )
Bags of rice or beans, whichever is cheapest in bulk…. need to fill 29 socks about halfway full so lots needed!
Misc. buttons, craft items, felt, beads, pipe cleaners to decorate a snowman
Would like all of this for the snowman by next WEDNESDAY, 1/25/12
CANDY HEARTS!  About one bag per child needed for a few crafts and writing activities for the month.
Think that is all for now!

Angel Tree

Something I failed to mention yesterday and wanted to send last week… we like to collect angel tree items for a student in need at our school.  I picked a family with a child around my students’ ages.  IF you possibly can, I would like your child to pick out a small gift ($10 or so) and try to contribute at least half of the amount to help buy the gift if they can (or earn money from you by helping out around the house to contribute to the gift.)  I know everyone will be out and about this weekend trying to finish up (well I know I will!) and anything you can send would be GREATLY appreciated by this family.  I apologize for the last minute request, but thought we could probably round up something by Monday!  Think board games, clothing items (size 10-12 or L), books, drawing and craft items, school supplies, etc…. anything your child would like, this student would too!  THANK YOU AHEAD OF TIME!!!

Thank you and last 7 days!

First, I want to thank you all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers while I was out dealing with the loss of my mother in law.  It has been a difficult week. That being said, the children did well under the circumstances of the time of year and substitute.  It is a difficult time of the year to be out and they did good for the sub overall.  I have a few parents to contact and will do so on an individual basis.
Our last 7 days will be a culmination of the quarter, assessments, finishing up things from last week and the fun stuff, celebrations!  The students have many assessments to complete in order for me to finish grades, profile cards and report cards which will go home next Tuesday on our last day.
We are mailing TWO letters of request by next week, one is a personal request, the other is a request for donated items for Enterprise Day.  We need parents to send in TWO stamps (extras are appreciated as well) by Monday of next week in order to send these out.
We will have our class celebration on Friday, 12/16 from 2-3:30.  Mrs. Gaither is sending that information out… all are welcome!
In addition, we need cocoa and cookies for the low-key end of quarter celebration next Tuesday.  See the sign up from Mrs. Gandy.  We also need a few items for Santa’s Workshop on Monday:
-1 liter bottle (not two liter, not 16 oz!)
-brown sock (gently used is fine)
-4 pack of the large colored bulbs- only need 8 packs total
- few rolls of gold/ silver/ red piping (not ribbon, not string)
- couple of boxes of candy canes (need two canes per child!)
TWO field trip reminders- Asheville money was due Friday… but I will accept through Friday.  ALSO, I am sending the play field trip info for February.  Yes, I realize that is ridiculous HOWEVER the money is due while we are tracked out.  SO, please fill it out IMMEDIATELY and send it in with 5.00 right away!  It is due this Friday as well (I apologize for the quick turn around… it was going home last week but it didn’t make it!)
Again, thank you all for everything.  It is certainly appreciated!
